Cry me a river.

Where do tears come from? Ok, I know all about the lacrimal gland and all that, but why is it that emotions would cause such a reaction? Why couldn't my heart be breaking and, say, my hair would grow? Or my teeth would become brilliantly white? I'll tell you why.. because if that was the body's reaction to extreme sadness, then right now, I'd be Rapunzel starring in a toothpaste commercial.

I have been crying for hours... and I feel like I could cry forever and they'd just keep coming. Songs talk about being 'all cried out', but I don't think there is a physical limit to the end of tears. Maybe once all the crying is done, they feel like they've got no more tears, but I'd bet you take one of those 'all cried out' folks and push just a little and.... WAAAAAHHHH!

Supposedly, tears caused by emotional reactions have a slightly different chemical makeup than regular lubricating tears. Couldn't that chemical makeup include something to actually make you feel better? Or at least LOOK better? Why does crying have to make your nose all red, and your eyes puffy, and your breathing erratic, and why do your shoulders have to shudder... it's so exhausting! Isn't it enough to just be sad, without having to look bad while you're doing it!?!?

That's because if you didn't look that way then it wouldn't be any different from when you were okay. And sometimes it's okay not to be okay.Okay?! It's good to purge and get it out of your system. I am glad I was able to be there for everything tonight when it all went down and without getting into any detail, what I said on your FB still holds. Give Trystan a big hug for me and tell him Tita Mia says anytime he needs me again, I AM HERE and I love him. He's in my prayers and thoughts.

I'm up for my jog and just read this. Hope you're okay. My Blackberry said I've got new posts on Blogger to read and eggs on Facebook. I'll send you one.If an egg can't make you smile in the morning I don't know what can. Cheer up, Jen! You're getting an egg.

Facebook, Facebook. I guess you've got to be with the In Crowd to know what's going on with everyone these days. Maybe I'll surrender to the peer pressure since I still can't be in the bloggy jive clique. You West Coasters and your posting in the early hours is really better than an alarm thanks to the creators of BlackBerry. Joking aside, I hope that whatever made you write this blog post is settled and you're feeling better by the time you read this. If a picture paints a thousand words then you were really upset and I hope all of our well wishes help.

I objectify! Haha made ya laugh.

Jen, a good cry is something we all need now and then. You've had a couple of posts lately where you've been very melancholy. I hope things pick up for you. I'm sending you good wishes across the pond. Tell Mia to give you big bear hugs and your son too for me and I'll pay her back when I see all of you at the Blog Family reunion in July.

Jen, I'm so sorry you're sad. I thought about the book you quoted for me the other day so I thought I'd share one with you. Take care girl! I'm thinking of you.

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

Once there was a tree...and she loved a little boy.

And every day the boy would come..and he would gather her leaves..
and make them into crowns
and play king of the forest.

He would climb up her trunk..and swing from her branches..
and eat apples.

And they would play hide-and-go-seek.

And when he was tired, he would sleep in her shade.

And the boy loved the tree...very much.
And the tree was happy.

But time went by...
And the boy grew older.
And the tree was often alone.

Then one day the boy came to the tree and the tree said, "Come, Boy, come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches..and eat apples and play in my shade and...be happy..."

"I am too big to climb and play," said the boy.
"I want to buy things and have fun. I want some money. Can you give me some money?"....

"I am sorry," said the tree, "but I have no money. I have only leaves and apples.
Take my apples, Boy, and sell them in the city.
Then you will have money and you will be happy."

And so the boy climbed up the tree...and gathered her apples and carried them away.

And the tree was happy...!

But the boy stayed away for a long time...and the tree was sad.

And then one day the boy came back and the tree shook with joy and she said, "Come, Boy, climb up my trunk... and swing from my branches...and be happy."

"I am too busy to climb trees," said the boy.
"I want a house to keep me warm," he said.
"I want a wife and I want children, and so I need a house.
Can you give me a house?"
"I have no house," said the tree.
"The forest is my house, but you may cut off my branches and build a house. Then you will be happy."

And so the boy cut off her branches and carried them away to build his house.

And the tree was happy.
But the boy stayed away for a long time.
And when he came back, the tree was so happy she could hardly speak.

"Come, Boy," she whispered, "come and play."
"I am too old and sad to play," said the boy.
"I want a boat that will take me far away from here. Can you give me a boat?"

...."Cut down my trunk and make a boat," said the tree.
"Then you can sail away...and be happy."

And so the boy cut down her trunk and made a boat and sailed away.
And the tree was happy... but not really.

And after a long time the boy came back again.
"I am sorry, Boy," said the tree, "but I have nothing left to give you ...
My apples are gone."
"My teeth are too weak for apples," said the boy.
"My branches are gone," said the tree. "You cannot swing on them..."
"I am too old to swing on branches," said the boy.
"My trunk is gone," said the tree. "You cannot climb..."
"I am too tired to climb," said the boy.
"I am sorry," sighed the tree. "I wish that I could give you something... but I have nothing left.
I am just an old stump. I am sorry..."

"I don't need very much now," said the boy, "just a quiet place to sit and rest. I am very tired."
"Well," said the tree, straightening herself up as much as she could, "well, an old stump is good
for sitting and resting. come, Boy, sit down.
Sit down and rest."

And the boy did.
And the tree was happy

@ All- I can't tell you how much your thoughts and love and objectifications ;) mean to me. I'm so thankful that it's just as easy to come here when I need to vent as it is when I just want to tell a funny story. I haven't had a lot of family around for a long time. I'm glad you guys are here.

@ Dana- There aren't words. Thank you so much for that. It was perfect.

One thing I've learned in my 31 years (don't laugh, I FEEL and LOOK much older lately) is that no matter how bad it gets, it can only get better. Like bungee jumping. You bounce back...unless the cord snaps...ok, bad analogy. Sorry. What I'm trying to say is that I've been through much and have been engrossed in tears, and somehow there has always been light at the end...even when I was sure there wouldn't be. I hope whatever it is will soon show you that light. If I can be of any help at all...ANYTHING, you just let me know.

Okay, now that Kenny Loggins song is playing...and now I'm crying! damn you!!!!

You're in my heart and prayers, Jennifer. :)
